Frequently asked Questions

KiwiSaver is a voluntary work-based savings initiative to help you save for your retirement. Most members will build up their savings through regular contributions from their pay.
KiwiSaver has a range of membership benefits that other savings schemes do not usually offer:
  1. Employer contributions,
  2. Government contributions,
  3. First home withdrawal (conditions apply).
You can join the scheme if you: • Are a New Zealand citizen or are entitled to live in New Zealand indefinitely; • Live or normally live in New Zealand; and • Are under the New Zealand superannuation age.
When you reach the KiwiSaver retirement age, you may continue to keep making contributions; however, the Government will stop contributing.
If you’re already an AE member, you can log in to your portal using the link(s) below: AE KiwiSaver Plan: The username is in the welcome letter sent to you in an email. If you have problem logging in, please email or call 0800 4 262624 (Freephone)

A member of the AE team can do this when we meet with you or an approved referee, someone who is at least 16 years of age and one of the following: police officer, justice of the peace, lawyer, accountant, minister of religion (including your local Imam), doctor, teacher, notary public or a member of parliament, none of whom should be related to you or your spouse, and should not live at the same address as you. If you don’t know anyone, please contact us and we will help you.

Proof of address is a requirement of the NZ legislation set out in the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009. We need a copy of a document showing your name and address, e.g. bank statement, New Zealand Government department statement (including IRD) or New Zealand utility company statement (i.e. electricity, gas, phone, Sky). The address must match the address on your application form. If you don’t have one, please contact us and we will help you.
You can do either. If you email the application form (, please post the original application form and accompanying documents to us as well. Our postal address is: AE KiwiSaver Plan PO Box 304015 Hauraki Corner Auckland 0750
